How to install eufy Security Video Doorbell 2K (wired)
You can download the eufy Security App from App Store and Google Play. Sign up or log into the app. Scan the QR Code on the back of the documentation folder or the back of the doorbell unit. Follow the following steps.
Check the installation environment
Make sure that the existing doorbell wires are working properly as they form the base for the installation. If there is no existing doorbell wires or if there is any problem with the existing doorbell wires, then seek help from a professional electrician for installation. Keep in mind that an installation height of 4.2m is recommended for the optimum doorbell view.
Preparing the doorbell wiring
You need to switch off the power of the doorbell circuit. In case of any confusion, it is better to switch off the mains. Now take off the cover of the existing doorbell chime. You need to bypass the doorbell chime. For this, you need to find the terminals with FRONT and TRANS markings. These are usually the ones with wire connection. Connect both these terminals using the jumper provided for the existing chime. If done, move on to the next step.
Mounting the video doorbell
- The existing doorbell button needs to be removed from the front door.
- Now, with the help of the Screw Hole Positioning Card, you can find the exact position where you need to drill the holes. Now, drill holes with a quarter inch drill bit.
Note: If you are planning to mount the doorbell on some wooden surface like the wooden door frame or the wooden wall, there is no need to drill holes as you can use the screw directly to mount the Mounting Bracket.
- Place the mounting bracket in the correct direction indicated by the symbol. In case you need to see more on a specific side, then make use of 15 degree wedge to serve the purpose. For example if you wish to see more on the left side, then place the wedge in that direction such that the bigger side faces outward. And if you wish to see more on the right side, then reverse the wedge upside down and place it on the opposite side. Also in this position, make sure that the wires go through the central hole. Wedge if used, should be between wall and the mounting bracket.
- Now screw in the mounting bracket into the screw holes. In case the wall material is stucco, brick or concrete, anchors need to be inserted to the drilling holes. In case of wooden material, there is no need as such. If you use wedge, then longer screws may be needed.
- Now you need to connect the doorbell wires to the doorbell terminals and tighten the terminal screws. In case the wires are too short, extension wires can be used to make them longer so that you can connect them to the terminals.
- Now remove the films on the thermal conductive pads and hook the doorbell onto the top of the bracket. Press the doorbell bottom to the bracket and when “click” sound is heard, you are done.
- Next you need to insert the power pin to the doorbell chime and turn it clockwise. You can plug in the chime into the power socket where you need to install it so as to get notified.
Setting up the video doorbell and chime
Switch On the power. Wait till the doorbell ring shows yellow. Now you may follow the in app instructions so as to set up the video doorbell. Once completed you are good to go.
